Prison Ministry Opportunity
by Rev. Garry Sims Vol. X, No. 9, Nov/Dec 1997
pastor: Tussekiah BC and Director, Hope Aglow
Tussekiah Baptist Church is partnering with Hope Aglow Ministries to reach into prisons and jails through church services, Bible courses, and tracts. "Satan has done the church a favor because he has put so many people in one place. All we have to do is go or help others go." ----Garry Sims. Such places are found in every community: jails and prisons where inmates are looking for answers to their problems.
The primary function of Hope Aglow is to provide evangelist services, Bible courses, and tracts to these men and women across the country. But we have a great need now in the state of Virginia. We have a desire to see a Christ centered service in every prison and jail in the state. Yes, it can be done, with GOD all things are possible.
One inmate put it this way: "I am an inmate at Powhatan Correction Center. I have been picking up your tracts in church. Thanks to you people I have been saved and no longer feel like I'm doing time by myself. I always knew there was a god, but I was not sure who he was, or just how powerful he really is. Now I know God is with me all the time, and I don't have to live that old life style. I now attend church and read my Bible. Please pray along with me."
We need churches who want to touch their own communities as well as help those in other regions. A sample of the Bible course is available to pastors and churches who are interested in joining the quest of Tussekiah Baptist Church as it partners with Hope Aglow Ministries to evangelize the prisons of Virginia.
