Fall CP numbers continue summer's upward trends

September receipts of the Southern Baptist Convention's Cooperative Program were up an impressive 13.7 percent compared to the same month a year ago, according to Morris H. Chapman, president and chief executive officer of the SBC Executive Committee. In CP gifts, a total of $15,447,337.56 was received in September to support Southern Baptist missions and ministries globally and across North America, compared to $13,586,054.23 in September 1999. For the fiscal year to date, October 1999 through September 2000, CP giving is 6.13 percent ahead of the same period a year ago, $178,298,879.52 as compared to $167,996,385.28.
In designated giving during September 2000, the total of $3,098,039.44 was 30.17 percent above the September 1999 total of $2,380,033.72. For the fiscal year to date, designated giving remains 7.6 percent ahead of last year's pace, $163,269,485.05 as compared to $151,737,197.05.
For the SBC Cooperative Program Allocation Budget, the year-to-date receipts of $178,298,879.52 are $18,715,136.52 above the budgeted $159,583,743.
The monthly receipts showed $15,447,337.56 received, more than 116 percent of the
budgeted amount of $13,298,645.25. The SBC Cooperative Program total includes receipts
from individuals, churches, state conventions and fellowships for distribution according
to the 1999-2000 Cooperative Program Allocation Budget. [BP]
