Ultimate Reality, Ultimate Freedom

Human nature always seeks freedom – often expressed in rebellion against all authority, and disdain of the ways of God. But total freedom is found only in sinlessness – thus only God is free. Our sinful world has not the slightest idea of what that means. Jesus, as the sinless Son of Man, possessed that freedom. He could do whatever He wanted to do, because His desires were all within the concepts of Truth and Righteousness. These two are twin concepts and areas of ultimate reality. They are emanations of God's holiness. God possesses no desire for evil, no inclination toward it. He cannot be tempted, nor does He ever tempt His creatures. (Cf: James 1:13). But we are in bondage to sin, and capable of ever greater potential sinfulness. Without the salvation of Jesus Christ, every human being is totally captive to sin and unrighteousness. The wonder of the message of the Gospel is that God, who is pure and free, has sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Messiah, God incarnate, one of us, who lived a human life of total freedom.
