Abortion Victims’ Trauma
Vol. X, No. 3, March 1997
Thirty-six percent of the respondents in a post-abortion survey described themselves as self-destructive after having an abortion. The study, first published in the 1994 fall edition of Post-Abortion Review, said fully 20% reported having a subsequent nervous breakdown, with 10% requiring hospitalization for psychiatric care; 61% said abortion made their lives worse, and 6% said abortion improved their lives. Only 31% felt “reconciled” to their abortion.
[Editorial Comment: Quite properly the fact that abortion murders an innocent baby is the Christian’s primary concern. Yet, note how these figures demonstrate that - even ignoring whether a baby has been killed - abortion is a remarkably bad deal for the woman! If the question involved something entirely different - say investing $10,000 - would it make sense to put your money into a deal where you knew you had only a 6% chance of profit, a 61% chance of serious loss, and (presumably) a 33% chance of neither profit nor loss? In abortions, nobody wins but the abortionist. Above reprinted from AFA Journal, February 1997, 601-844-5036. I highly recommend subscribing to AFA Journal, only $15 per year. TCP]
