The late Bill Bright wrote an endorsement for Made to Count in which he said, “At last! A book that inspires us to make our lives count and affirms God’s high calling to ‘secular’ professions. ... This captivating book will challenge your thinking on the call of God, help you discover the purpose for your life, and motivate you with stories of those used by God to make a difference.”
There is a very common but mistaken assumption that if God calls, He wants me in the professional ministry. That may well be true for any individual, but in the great majority of cases it is wrong.
Every Christian is called to ministry. Yes, some to the pastorate and some to be missionaries, but most Christians have secular jobs. And that is where the Lord wants us to minister.
Made to Count was written to help Christians recognize God’s call, to enable us to distinguish His voice from our own self-centered tendencies, and to give us the courage and discretion to faithfully represent Him in the workplace ... wherever that might be.
The book is an “easy read.” The authors make their points and illustrate them in almost every chapter with two or three real life experiences of Christians from many walks of life, from port-a-john cleaner (literally!), to a construction manager, to ex-Congressman J. C. Watts, and many others from a very broad range of jobs.
Do you know someone who needs to hear God’s voice clearly, who needs to understand that our primary responsibility is to glorify God and represent Him to those about us regardless of where He places us? Then give him a copy of Made to Count!
P.S.: Read it yourself; you’ll love it.
