Church Ousted over Woman’s Ordination

           The executive board of the Charleston Baptist Association in Missouri voted on 19 August to withdraw fellowship from First Baptist Church, Sikeston, MO, over the 31 March ordination of a Sikeston woman to the gospel ministry. Twenty-eight of the association’s 35 churches were represented. The ballot vote was 40 to 8 in favor of the motion to withdraw fellowship which was offered by the association’s credential’s committee after meeting with representatives of the church. [BP]
