SBCV Annual Meeting 29 September
by T. C. Pinckney Vol. X, No. 6, June/July 1997
On 16 September 1996 the SBCV declared itself a new state convention, changing from the previous fellowship status. This first year as a convention has been extremely busy, especially for our executive director, Dr. Doyle Chauncey. Much has been accomplished. Much remains to be done.
In a little over two months, on 29 September 1997, we will gather for our first annual meeting as a state convention, and one of the major items of business will discussion and adoption of our revised constitution. Voting on the new constitution will, of course, be conducted in accord with the existing one. This means that contributing churches and individuals from non-affiliated churches must submit an alignment form to the Executive Committee in order to participate as voting members. Alignment forms have been received from 139 churches.
Churches and individuals who are presently contributing but have not yet submitted an alignment form should have received a form from the SBCV office. If you or your church is to be qualified to vote at the 29 September annual meeting, the form must be received at the SBCV office before the next Executive Committee meeting on 7 August. The Executive Committee will act on all requests on 7 August.
If you or your church has been contributing, wants to vote on 29 September, and has NOT received the form, call the SBCV office at 757-363-0153 immediately. If you have received the form, please submit it as soon as possible. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL 6 AUGUST! We want everyone qualified to be able to vote at this important meeting.
