Resolution on Reading Material in Public Schools

                                                                                                                                                                  Vol. V, No. 5, September 1992

The New River Baptist Association on 9 July issued a strongly worded resolution on reading materials in public schools. Responding to recent controversy in Carroll County Public Schools, the associational meeting unanimously approved a statement which opposes "the use in public schools of literature that contains profanity or pornography or which portrays lewd or obscene situations." The resolution was drafted by Director of Missions, Robert C. Jackson, and by the pastor of the Sharon Baptist Church, Rev. Mike Hoyle. (NRBA release)
