BGCT Net Loss 286 Churches

During 2001 the Baptist General Association of Texas added 346 congregations and dropped 632 for a net decrease of 286. Of the departures, 447 became uniquely aligned with the more conservative Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, 94 disbanded, 29 became inactive, 36 merged, and 26 withdrew or became independent.
