Phil Martin is the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia (SBCV) state missionary to the churches in the Southwestern Area of the Commonwealth, serving in the dual role of church enrichment consultant and church planting strategist. He is the first point of contact for SBCV churches in that area, fulfilling the first four SBCV Strategic Objectives: strengthening existing churches; supporting pastors, staff, and their families; starting new churches; and mobilizing mission volunteers.

God has already provided opportunities for Phil to serve the SBCV churches through leadership training and development, training and equipping Sunday School leaders, training in evangelism strategies using the NET (a NAMB resource), sharing stewardship and missions education materials, consulting in conflict management and ministry relationships, mentoring pastors and staff, and preaching and teaching in our SBCV churches.

Phil lives in Abingdon with his wife, Linda. He is a native of Southwestern Virginia, born in St. Paul. Before joining the SBCV staff, Phil served as the associate pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA, for fourteen years. Phil has a wealth of experience in Southern Baptist churches in Virginia and has served on the international mission field.
