Students More Conservative
Vol. X, No. 4, April 1997
A new survey conducted by UCLA indicates that today’s college students are more conservative than their predecessors. The survey found beer drinking has sunk to a record low among college students; only 53% now claim they drink, compared to 75% in 1981. And the survey reported 41% today favor sex outside marriage, vice 50% in 1975. Also, 30% today claim to be born again Christians: in black colleges and universities the percentage of Christians is 52.6%. And support for abortion has dropped from 65% in 1992 to 56.3% today.
