Here are the 2008 dollar receipt totals for both the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia and the Baptist General Association of Virginia. Percentage figures show the change from 2007.

As you consider these figures, remember that the BGAV claims almost three times as many affiliated churches as does the SBCV.
Not surprisingly, the bad economy is reducing gifts to churches of all persuasions. Yet each of us should keep in mind that God owns everything and has given us all that we have. Returning the tithe to Him is His command and our duty to glorify Him. Moreover, it should not be merely a duty but a great pleasure to know that He can and will use that which we return to Him for the growth of His kingdom and in glorifying His name.
