The Most Important Issue Facing the Church and the Nation

Public (government) schools have indoctrinated generations of children to believe in evolution, relativism, post-modernism, feminism, multiculturalism, socialism, mindless tolerance, sexual promiscuity, phony self-esteem, and an acceptance of homosexuality as a normal alternative lifestyle. In addition they have lowered academic standards, teach that God is irrelevant, and that the philosophy of secular humanism holds the best hope for mankind.

The goal is to instill a secular worldview in children so that when they become adults serving in the courts, the government, the news media, the entertainment industry and even in our churches a secular worldview will prevail. Secular education’s intent is to sever our nation from its Christian moorings. In the book, Children at Risk by James Dobson & Gary Bauer they state: “A great Civil War of Values rages today…Two sides with vastly differing and incompatible worldviews are locked in a bitter conflict that permeates every level of society…the struggle now is for the hearts and minds…the war is not fought with bombs and bullets, but with ideas.”

I used to give general anesthesia, and when there was a major accident I would be called to the emergency room in order to perform triage, i.e. to evaluate the appropriate management of the victims. Some would survive regardless of whether or not any treatment was administered. Others would have a chance of survival if swift care was given, and others would probably not survive regardless of whether or not they received treatment.

Similarly, the situation with government schools can be compared to triage. There are thirty-one million children between the ages of five and twelve. Studies show that by the time a child reaches the age of thirteen he has developed the worldview and the relationship he will have with Christ throughout his life! Children who have gone through government schools are probably beyond hope. Shouldn’t we concentrate on saving as many children as possible before their hearts are hardened to the gospel? Encourage Christians to remove their children from secular schools, and home school them or place them in a thoroughly Christian school.

For nearly a century Christians have been losing the cultural war. The reason is that we’ve been mainly treating symptoms rather than working to eradicate the disease which is secular schools. Unfortunately most Christians are unaware of the toxic effects that secular schools have upon children, and have spent time, energy, and money in the hopeless task of seeking to improve them.

Abortion is monstrous, but an aborted child is held blameless, and is a partaker of God’s grace. However, children who die at an age of accountability, and have not yet accepted Christ as personal Savior and repented perish in their sins. Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

In Deut 6:1-9 and in many other Scriptures, God gave the responsibility to parents that children should be brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Secular Humanism has no place in our hearts, churches, homes, or classrooms. Secular schools belong to the world of the antichrist, and we to that of Christ our Lord. We have different lords, and we also need a different kind of education. Christian children are being devastated spiritually, morally and academically by a pagan ideology taught on a daily basis. Two hours of Church does not make up for thirty-five hours a week in a secular school. Martin Luther stated, “There is nothing which will more surely earn hell for a man than the improper training of his children; and parents can perform no more damaging bit of work than to neglect their offspring…it is highly necessary that every person regard the soul of his child with greater concern than the flesh which has come from him, that he consider the child nothing less than a precious, eternal treasure, entrusted to his protection by God so that the devil, the world, and the flesh do not steal and destroy it. For the child will be required from the parent on Judgment Day in a very strict reckoning.”

A study done by the Baptist Council on Family Life in 2002 said that eighty-eight percent of children from evangelical homes who attend government schools will within two years of graduation from high school leave the church, and most never return! Contrast this with another study which showed that ninety-six percent of home schooled children accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Professor R. L. Dabney of Union Theological Seminary said, “The education of children for God is the most important business done on earth. Every parent especially ought to feel, every hour of the day, that next to making his own calling and election sure, this is the end for which he is kept alive by God – this is his task on earth.”

II Co 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?" Isn’t this exactly what we do when we send our children to government schools?

It doesn’t make sense to expend all our time, energy, and money on lesser things, and ignore the most important issue. Please give a portion of your time to assist in this effort, and help with your financial contribution. Doing this will save millions of children’s souls, and perhaps even save our nation.
