Vol. IV, No. 7, October 1991
Distressed over the "extreme liberties" that several protestant churches have taken regarding abortion and homosexuality, the Greek Orthodox Church has suspended ties to the National Council of Churches.
Separately, the United Methodist Church reports a membership decline of about 62,000 in 1990, the smallest drop since a similar decrease in 1981. United Methodists had more than 11 million members in 1965 but now have about 8.84 million.
