MD/Del Addresses Homosexuality, BJCPA

The general mission board of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware adopted a resolution 1 June opposing same sex marriages and ordination of homosexuals. The board also defeated an attempt to to include a $1,000 line item for the Washington, DC based Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs in the 1993 budget which BCM/D messengers will vote on this fall. Opponents of the proposed line item pointed out that local churches supportive of the BJCPA have the option of providing funds directly through church budgets. (BP)
