Networks Promote Homosexuality
by Glenn A. Brown Vol. V, No. 3, June 1992
An organized effort is underway to use television and the movie media to convince Americans that homosexual activity should be considered normal and acceptable behavior and that those who hold a biblical view of it should be considered prudish, uninformed, and out-of-date.
The pro-homosexual theme appeared occasionally last (1990-91) season (in at least five programs in the month of May alone), but will become more prevalent in programming this fall and winter, according to information from the American Family Association (AFA). Producers of three prime-time programs, Dear John, L.A. Law, and Roseanne, have already announced their plans to include the pro-homosexual lifestyle in their programming this fall.
The Los Angeles Times (8/5/91) reported a Hollywood fund raiser for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force sold out a 300-person, $250-per-plate dinner. Attendees reportedly included power brokers from ABC, NBC, CBS, and the major production companies (Paramount, Disney, Fox, MCA/Universal, MGM, Tri-Star, Columbia, and others).
Research reported by Lichter and Rothmann revealed when Hollywood creators, writers, and producers were asked if homosexuality is wrong, 86 percent said NO. Further, the study stated that most of the Hollywood TV elite believe they have a role to play in re-shaping American society.
You can see the truth for yourself. Every time the homosexual theme pops up in any form on TV – no matter how briefly – write it down. Record the date, time, network, program name, a brief description of the homosexual activity or attitude portrayed or implied and a sample of comments. Be sure to write down a complete list of sponsors and the products they promote. You may be surprised to see how many clever ways and how frequently this subject is inserted into programming. Clearly it is by design.
It is time for the Christian community to wake up, see what is happening, and take action.
First, get informed as to what is taking place. Then, every time you see the homosexual lifestyle promoted on TV, write your objections to TV executives and program sponsors – especially the sponsors. Tell them your objections and promise to boycott their products if they continue sponsoring such programs. Then keep your word.
The networks and sponsors may cry "censorship," but ignore that hogwash. Christian folk and others of high moral standards don't have to stand passively and continue to allow corrupting propaganda from the pagan world to invade their homes and infect the values of their children.
My appeal is not that we withdraw basic human rights for homosexuals, or that we forsake gracious and responsible help for victims of that lifestyle. But rather, that we do all in our power to derail the advancement of homosexuality as a society-approved, alternate lifestyle.
Television is but one battlefront, but it is a vital one. If you would like the names and addresses of TV network executives and sponsors of pro-homosexual TV programs, write to: American Family Association, Post Office Drawer 2440, Tupelo, MS 38803. You will either be part of the solution or part of the problem.
