Euthanasia-Abortion Connection: What many evangelicals have long assumed is now documented: murder of the unborn and killing the "undesirable" go hand in glove. The American Civil Liberties Union calls euthanasia an extension of Roe v. Wade. Human Events reported that Derek Humphry, executive director of the National Hemlock Society, said he was having a hard time getting a hearing in the United States, but then "the doors opened." When asked what opened the doors, he answered, "Why, Roe v. Wade." In his interview with Family Voice Humphry explained, "The Roe v. Wade decision started a trend toward people thinking, `It is my body. It's between me and my conscience what happens to it."' Not surprisingly a speaker at the National Organization for Women 1991 National Conference also made the connection. She urged NOW members to get involved in the euthanasia movement because, "These two issues [abortion and euthanasia] are inextricably interlinked." Abortion Resolution: Midwestern Seminary trustees adopted by a 17-9 vote a strongly worded resolution on abortion and voted to increase their involvement in selection of adjunct faculty at their annual meeting 6-7 April. In the resolution they stated abortion on demand is "immoral, unethical, and unbiblical." The resolution continued "... this board respectfully requests the administration and employees of Midwestern ... who may not share this understanding of Scripture to refrain from publicly espousing the right of a woman to have an abortion on demand."
