God! Do You Hear Me?
reviewed by T. C. Pinckney Vol. XXII, No. 3, March 2009
The author, M. O. Owens, Jr., has served in Southern Baptist ministry for seventy years. He is publisher and editor of a free bimonthly Christian publication, "The Watchman.". His new book, God! Do You Hear Me? is the best on prayer that I have read, and I recommend it to all, lay or clergy.
Dr. Paige Patterson, a key leader of the Conservative Resurgence, past president of the SBC, past president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and current president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, writes, “Dr. M. O. Owens, a longtime faithful pastor and one of the finest pastoral thinkers that ever graced the ranks of evangelical churchmen, has written God! Do You Hear Me? which answers the most important questions that are being asked by people today. What makes this book so incredibly important is that it is not a book about theory but a book that is born in the experience of one of the most able practitioners of the art and discipline of prayer.”
Some of the questions addressed in the book are: Why are many of our prayers unanswered? What are the Bible’s answers to many of our questions about prayer? What kind of faith is required? Is my attitude important? Are there any rules that have to be followed? Is there any limit to what one can ask? Why is praying in Jesus name important?
As you read this book, your prayer life will become deeper, broader, and more glorifying to God . I give it my highest recommendation.
Also, if you do not receive "The Watchman", I suggest you subscribe. While there is no subscription fee, obviously donations are needed to cover printing and postage.
