The Truth & Three Lies

           What is truth? A famous Roman politician once asked that very question as he stared into the manifestation of truth. Today many people are searching for the truth, but the truth seems elusive. There are so many voices declaring the truth, yet so many are deceived. Satan, our adversary, has many titles and attributes. Some of those “fine” qualities are: being a murderer, being unable to stand in the truth, and being the father of all lies (John 8:44). He is also known as the great deceiver (Matthew 24:5), the prince of the air (Ephesians 2:2), and one who transforms himself into an angel of light (II Corinthians 11:14). To obstruct the truth Satan has fathered and nurtured three great lies: reproductive rights, sexual orientation, and evolution.

           The pro-feminist group believe abortion is a choice. Conception is a choice, gestation is a choice, and delivery is a choice ... unless you are the baby. The feminists believe a woman has an absolute right to decide if a fetus will reside in her womb. The assertion is made that the unborn baby is only a “mass of tissue”, and it is not a human being. Those opposing this view are called anti-abortionists or “religious right-wing fundamentalists.”

           The truth is that when one human terminates another human’s life it is murder. When just one human life is devalued, all human life is devalued. Abortion is a sin (Exodus 20:13; Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 51:5).

           The second lie is homosexuality as an alternative life-style. Those pushing the gay agenda form an extremely powerful lobby with incredible assets. The lie asserts that this behavior is inherited and that one cannot change his sexual orientation anymore than he can change the color of his skin. Those that cannot accept this life-style are labeled homophobic or intolerant bigots.

           The truth is that homosexuality is a perversion. Perversion is sexual immorality, and sexual immorality is sin (I Corinthians 6:9; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:24-32).

           The third lie is evolution. The scientific community claims evolution not as a theory but as a fact, saying all life forms evolved from the primordial ooze. This philosophy works well in this society where we are encouraged to do whatever feels good. Man is the highest order of evolved life-forms, therefore moral convictions become mere personal preference, and ethics are relative only to specific situations. If one does not believe and have faith in evolution, that person is labeled ignorant.

           The truth is that God created the world and that He created man in His own image, both male and female. God is the highest being, and we are accountable unto God as the Author and Finisher of truth, the Sovereign and Judge of all creation (Genesis 1:1, 27; Isaiah 42:5; Acts 17:31; Romans 2:16; II Timothy 4:1; Revelation 10:6).

           I John 2:21: “I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.” Satan has not changed his modus operandi. He seeks to deceive with half-truths and deceptions. Jesus said in Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” We all need to wise up.
