It’s Time to Celebrate Marriage as a Covenant

On Sunday, February 11, 2007 churches across the nation and around the world will be proclaiming God’s message on marriage in celebration of Covenant Marriage Sunday. God is greatly concerned about the culture of His Kingdom. He grieves the fact that His Bride, the Church is taking on the ways of the world in regard to their marriages.

God has a story to tell to our nation that He still reigns in the lives of His people and that marriage as He intends it is to be “set apart” from the world. It is to be holy! It is extraordinary. God is at work in His Bride placing a desire in the hearts of couples everywhere to move beyond the mundane to the extraordinary as a testimony to His power in their lives. Join us as we celebrate this fact. Our nation and the world need to hear this message!

Don’t wait! God is continually raising up congregations around the world to celebrate marriage as a covenant relationship through the observance of the Covenant Marriage Sunday and we are inviting you to join us. Celebrating marriage as a congregation can occur anytime your church deems appropriate. However, as the Bride of Christ we have a unique opportunity to display to the world God’s intent for marriage to be an extraordinary journey together as husband and wife with Him at the heart of the relationship.

Our nation has struggled over the last few years to maintain a biblical perspective of marriage and God has made a definitive statement to the world that our nation, as a whole, still upholds moral values. Now God desires to make that same kind of definitive statement to the world through the collective Body of Christ. The fact is the world cannot embrace a Christian view of marriage without first viewing it. The Covenant Marriage Sunday provides an opportunity for thousands of churches and tens of thousands of Christians to take a stand for marriage as God intends it to be, without having to go to Washington, DC or any other major media center to do so.

The news media thrives on mass movements with their large public gatherings of participants that can be captured by the eye of the camera. But, there is one who sees the hearts of His people and values their commitment to taking a stand in their local communities and He is the one we desire to please. God is seeking out those who are faithfully honoring His name in their community. Marching on Washington, DC may capture the eyes of the camera, but taking a stand in your local community captures the eyes and heart of God.

The Covenant Marriage Movement is offering you an opportunity to join together in accomplishing this very thing. It is our desire to see God at work in and through every community calling out His Bride to celebrate marriage in such magnitude that His name will be glorified, His Bride magnified and the world mesmerized by the power and presence of their covenant God.

The challenge we have as Christians is to present to the world, a view of marriage that dispels any shadow of doubt that marriage as God designed it is the best arena of human relationships through which individuals can experience love to its fullest degree.
