Presbyterian Staff Cuts

Vol. VI, No. 4, May 1993

The financially-crippled Presbyterian Church (USA) is on the verge of a major organizational revamping that some insiders predict could force reductions of as much as 20 to 40 percent in the church's national staff. The anticipated cutbacks come at a time when Presbyterians, including national church officials, are concerned about the once-mighty church's identity and, in some cases, are openly questioning the denomination's ability to survive in its present form. If that level cut occurs, between 200 and 400 of the approximately 1,000 national staff workers could lose their jobs. [The Christian Index]
