Episcopal Gay Decision

The nation's oldest Episcopal seminary, General Theological Seminary in New York City, has changed its housing policy to allow same-sex couples to live together in school-owned apartments. Bishop Craig B. Anderson said the new policy reflected e the trustees' willingness "to face with honesty the changing patterns of life within the church while upholding the church's traditional standards for accountability and commitment in personal relationships." [Baptists Today, 17 Feb. 1994]

[Editorial Comment: Isn't it interesting that the bishop is not quoted as saying anything about God's standards or biblical standards? One of God's characteristics is immutability: He does not change, and His principles do not change. Churches without biblical doctrine inevitably come to rely upon man's judgment which, without a firm foundation, degenerates into moral anarchy rationalized as right upon personal or societal bases.]
