Episcopal Diocese Favors Gay Ordinations
Vol. VII, No. 2, February 1994
The Episcopal diocese of Massachusetts at its annual convention in Hyannis approved by an overwhelming majority a resolution proposing that the 1994 General Convention of the Episcopal Church be asked to remove "the obstacles to ordination for qualified candidates who are living in committed same-sex relationships." The delegates also voted to instruct the denomination's Standing Liturgical Commission to prepare rites and ceremonies to be used in joining "gay and lesbian members of this church to life together."
