Separation...?
by Linda Stineman Vol. VII, No. 1, January 1994
When are people going to learn that "separation of church and state" is not in the U.S. Constitution? Jack Turner, Al Gore's pastor, described Gore as having a strong belief in the separation of church and state. Is that supposed to be a compliment? It is time we as Christians began to face the truth – our religious faith should determine how we live our lives, how we make our decisions, how we do our jobs, how we govern our nation. James 2:20 says, "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" While we naively say, "Oh, I wouldn't want to force my religion on people!" the pro-abortionists, the homosexuals, and the New Agers are legislating their religion into our government, our schools, and even into our churches.
There's nothing noble about someone separating his religious views from decision-making. Our wholesale departure from moral absolutes is why we are experiencing upheaval in every area of our structure. Compromise and apathy circulate under the guise of tolerance. No, we should not force our religion on others, but remaining silent in this day of overwhelming iniquity is nothing less than cultural adaptation of biblical truth, otherwise known as surrender to the enemy.
