Southern Baptists for Life

Southern Baptists for Life (SBL) is a private (not funded by the Cooperative Program) organization of Southern Baptists who seek to help stop the slaughter of innocent, unborn children. Each member can participate as the Lord leads. Some possible ways are in helping educate others about the sacredness of human life, supporting local crisis pregnancy centers, helping elect pro-life political candidates, raising money for pro-life causes, and praying for God's direction in this effort.

As an example of the impact a relatively small number may have upon the political process, consider our recent gubernatorial election. A recent report stated that Doug Wilder won by two votes per precinct! If you and other pro-life Southern Baptists had organized SBL chapters around the state, it would have been quite possible to convince three or four more pro-life voters per precinct to vote, and today Virginia would have a pro-life governor.

But do not misunderstand. Political action is only one example of need, and it may well be that the Lord wants you active in some other aspect of the pro-life struggle. There is ample room for all and many ways to help.

If you don't help the unborn innocents in your town, who will?
