Pastor’s Invitational

Vol. II, No. 1, March 1989

On April 12, beginning with the Wednesday evening meal, the 2nd Annual Pastor's Invitational will be held at Northside Church in Charlottesville. Dr. Richard Land will be the featured speaker each evening, and many other topics by various speakers will be covered before ending Friday, April 14.

The President of the Christian Life Commission, Dr. Richard Land, will be speaking each evening (Wed., Thurs., & Fri.), at 7:00 P.M. during the April Bible Conference at Northside. In addition, (see schedule below) he will address the pastors in attendance on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

Rev. Bob Melvin, pastor of Spotswood Baptist Church in Fredericksburg will be speaking on Thursday morning concerning "Growing an Evangelistic Church". Spotswood has been going through a wonderful time of revival and soul-winning, and we look forward to hearing from Brother Bob what God is doing.

Rev. Rick Ray will be speaking three times to the pastors and workers. Rick is Minister of Education and Church Growth at Grove Avenue Baptist Church in Richmond. God has greatly blessed his ministry there with unusual Sunday School growth. He has helped other ministries reorganize their Sunday School and has many tips for the pastor and Sunday School teachers and workers for developing a strong Sunday School in the local church. He will be speaking on "Reorganizing the Sunday School", "Special Days for Sunday School Growth", and "The Outreach Leader/Group Leader Ministry".

Gen. T. C. Pinckney will be addressing the group on Friday afternoon. T. C. has been uniquely used of God during the last several years in helping conservative pastors in our Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. He will be speaking on the current issues confronting Virginia Baptists and Southern Baptists.

New for This Year:

Music: Pam and McKenneth King will be singing in all services during the Pastor's Invitational. Pam and McKenneth are full-time music evangelists, and God is using them in a marvelous way throughout our country. Recently, they have released their new album, "Love's Finest Hour". Since then, they have toured in Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida with many engagements in Virginia between trips. They are committed to the Lord and His Word and will bless your heart in the ministry through music.

Child Care: Many of the ladies who attended the conference last year said they needed child care offered to be able to return this year. Hence, there will be free child care offered for infants through 4 years old. We have excellent facilities and expert care due to the fact that Northside operates a full-care, full-range day care center.

Food Service: Since last year, Northside has installed a new Snack Bar. Each morning, the Snack Bar will be open for breakfast offering donuts, Danish, sausage biscuits, orange juice, and coffee. Then at lunch time if you would prefer, you can eat right there without having to go out. The Snack Bar will be serving, barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, soft drinks, coffee, tea and other delicious "junk food".

Book Table: Also, a Book Table will be offered this year with many good books by your favorite authors. We are contacting many distributors asking them to help us in this matter and will be passing along to you any savings offered. There will be someone to help you with your book needs during the hours of breaks and meal times.

Registration: You need to register for this conference immediately. Special free housing is being offered to as many as possible. Also, the Knights Inn is offering lodging at a reasonable rate. Call 973-6571 for more information.
