                 A Premillenial Perspective

The Return of Christ addresses a topic critically important to every Christian, the Second Coming of Christ. It consists of twelve chapters by as many different authors adding up to a total of 264 pages. Basically, the book’s perspective is premillenial, but it also comments on amillenialism and postmillenialism.

Each chapter is by a different author, in order of appearance: Jerry Vines, Ergun Caner, Danny Akin, Paige Patterson, David Allen, Richard Land, Junior Hill, Stanton Norman, Craig Blessing, Lamar Cooper, and Michael Vlach, and edited by David Allen and Steve Lemke. Every committed Southern Baptist will recognize most of those names.

End times hold great interest for each of us. As Jerry Vines writes on p. 13, “If you believe the Bible, you have to believe in the return of the Lord Jesus.” That being true, each of us should devote some study time to examining what the Bible says about Jesus’ return, exactly what this book does.

While each Christian is intrigued by the end times, many shy away from studying it, likely due to concern about getting beyond our depth in multisyllabic academic theological terms. Don’t worry. This book is not written for Ph. D’s. The average layman will be able to read it with no problem.

I highly recommend The Return of Christ. Having read it, you will be much better equipped to understand the issues, the remaining questions, and the various views about the end times. It was published by B&H Publishing Group this year.
